HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAVORITE PIECES
TIPS AND TRICKS TO KEEP YOUR ITEMS IN ITS BEST CONDITION

THE SOUL OF THE GARMENT
Each piece from The Kooples is distinct, a little touch that makes it stand apart... To maintain the quality of your item, we’re sharing our little secrets.
LEATHER PATINA
INFORMATION
Leather is a living material that tends to dry out and form a patina as time goes on. It wrinkles in some places, smoothens in others... which give it a unique vintage look. It lives with you, as a witness to your story.
ADVICE
We recommend that twice a year, you apply a neutral nourishing cream using a soft cloth to moisturize the leather and restore its original radiance. Then, polish it with a dry cloth. In case of stains, we recommend that you entrust your piece to a leather specialist.

SOFTER KNIT FABRICS
INFORMATION
Merino, cashmere, mohair or alpaca... Our woolen fabrics love water! We recommend that you carefully follow the care instructions, located on the inside label of the garment. Most styles will allow wash hand washing in cold water. This way, they will continue to show their beauty throughout the years, with permeability and softness as a priority.
ADVICE
To preserve their appearance, use a special wool detergent and avoid adding softeners that can deform the fibers. Rinse gently, without ever wringing the wool and dry flat on a clean cloth.

DELICATE FABRICS BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE
INFORMATION
Satin, muslin, crêpe de Chine... We recommend that you carefully follow the care instructions, located on the inside label of the garment. Silk and viscose should be washed inside out, by hand in cold water. Remove any detachable collar or decorative inserts and leave to soak for up to 5 minutes to prevent the fibers from relaxing.
ADVICE
Leave to dry on a hanger. Silk should be ironed on the backside, preferably when it is still damp. We recommend using a press cloth and using the lowest setting.

PRESERVED SYNTHETICS
INFORMATION
Polyester can be machine washed at 30°C, preferably inside out and in a washing net. For anything with special features (dévoré velvet, presence of metal or lace inserts), we recommend that you carefully follow the care instructions, located on the inside label of the garment.
ADVICE
Iron at a low setting, making sure to use a press cloth to prevent the iron from coming into direct contact with the fabric.

COTTON, OF ANY STYLE
INFORMATION
Pique, poplin, fil à fil, jersey, Oxford or Chambray, it’s soft, absorbent, insulating. These fabrics can be machine washed at 30°C.
ADVICE
However,be sure to pay particular attention to contrasting colors to avoid possible color transfer.

BEAUTIFULLY FADED DENIM
INFORMATION
By nature, indigo dye does not fix well to fabric, but this is also the whole point of it. Your denim pieces will fade over time, reflecting your lifestyle and habits. To maintain the quality of the weave, we recommend that they be washed as little as possible.
ADVICE
Use liquid detergent rather than powder. Wash denim inside out and don’t overload your washing machine to avoid white marks.

YOUR EVERYDAY BAG
INFORMATION
Your bag keeps you company from morning to evening and can also reflect the marks of your busy life. Once a year, we recommend applying a nourishing cream to moisturize the leather and restore its original radiance.
ADVICE
Crocodile, python and snake-effect leathers have not been treated with a water-repellent treatment. It is therefore recommended to waterproof these styles, while protecting the metalware to prevent it from galvanizing.

PERFECTLY SHINED SHOES
INFORMATION
Just like our ready-to-wear pieces, leather boots and shoes tend to form a patina over time. Using a clean cloth, apply a nourishing cream monthly and massage the leather in a circular motion.
ADVICE
For shoes made from goat suede, regular maintenance with a specialty brush is recommended after waterproofing them.

To prevent the soles from getting damaged on contact with the ground, you can also have your pair resoled.
SPARKLING JEWELLERY
INFORMATION
Necklaces, bracelets and earrings are made of brass with silver or gold plating. To preserve their shine, avoid prolonged contact with the skin and do not spray perfume directly on them.
ADVICE
Clean the jewellery with a cloth which is slightly damp or soaked in white vinegar, making sure to protect the rhinestones to avoid tarnishing them. To restore the original shine to the metal, polish with a piece of chamois leather.

AND FINALLY...
ADVICE
Dry cleaning is the preferred method for all suit jackets and trousers as well as for fake furs, coats and parkas.

Be careful: Dry cleaning is strongly discouraged for pieces with studs glued on, as solvents can melt the glue. For such cases, follow the instructions on the label inside the garment.
